The Rogue River is famous for it's year round Salmon & Steelhead fishing. The Spring Chinook return April through July & average between 10-40 pounds. These sprinters are legendary for there taste & fighting abilities. The next fish species we target in this yearly cycle is the Summer Run Steelhead which return to the river in large numbers July through November. These Steelhead range between 4-18 pounds and are also great eating. Fall Chinook began showing up in large numbers in September through December. The Rogue River fall Chinook is the trophy of all freshwater fish in Oregon averaging between 20-30 pounds with 40 pound Salmon caught with regularity. In 2002 Grant Martinson caught the new Oregon State record 71 pound Fall Chinook using flies on the Rogue. After catching these monsters we target the Winter Steelhead run November through April. Winter fishing is for the die hard fisherman who wants great returns. These fish run between 7-20 pounds what a great fighting fish. Not to be overlooked is the great Rainbow Trout fishing in the Upper Rogue between May & October with trophy trout going between the 13-28 inches.
